Ron's parents came to visit us for a few weeks in May - it was so great to see them - we certainly kept them busy seeing as much as possible during their time here.
While they were here we went off to Berlin for a long weekend as well. Quite an interesting city with so much recent history to soak in - it's really unique in that the (mostly) restored, historic buildings are mixed in with many new very modern buildings. It's so scary to think how recent all the atrocities that went on there were - very sobering reading through the history at the various museums and monuments. Interestingly, it seemed to be quite a party city as well, which is not what I would have expected - we were there during some soccer tournament and the city was filled with rival fans in jerseys chanting everywhere - even on trains.
Topography of Terror - it was interesting to ready how Hitler came to power - all his mind games, etc that allowed it to happen |
